Meant to be posted on February 11

From the Undertones blog:

The Undertones just won 1st place in the 2nd Midwest Quarterfinal of the International Championship of Collegiate A cappella!

We scored 439 points out of a possible 465 points, clinching first place, and also won the award for Best Choreography. This means we advance to Semi-finals which will be held at Northwestern on March 31!

Perks of the Cold Weather.

1. Not having to carry around an umbrella
2. Not having to worry about your hair or your clothes because you're going to be bundled up anyways. (This applies to girls and leg shaving too, I guess)
3. Walking on crunchy snow. It's incredibly addicting, almost like popping bubble wrap, but better!
4. Not having to go home directly after buying frozen goods, because they're not going to melt in your car! (not sarcasm)
5. Seeing the effects of condensation everywhere you look.
6. Having an excuse not to go out, (though this is a double-edged sword)
7. Seeing cars wearing snow hats.

Side note, I have a case of water in my car. only two of the bottles have frozen, the rest are still in liquid form, quite odd.

Just thought I'd post up some pictures of oklahoma to entice ya'll into coming.

Aunt Eller's house

Barn and the butter churn (and some unmentionables hanging on the laundry line)

They got heat-makin' machines? Well I'll be side gated!

Polka-in' with ourselves cuz gals don't wanna dance with smelly cowboys.

You gotta watch these girls dance. They're frickin' hot.

i'm sad

I wish I felt more needed sometimes. I think a certain person is causing me to pull out my hair in craziness, and I can't do a thing about it. It's sad to know that my pool of hang-outable people really isn't that big. And now that we're growing up, everybody's getting busy, so hanging out all of a sudden becomes a balancing act.

I'm sad.

Jazz... TWO!

I finally decided to take a leap and try a Jazz 2 class today. I expected it to be hard, but not as hard as it actually was. Granted, I have never been in this teacher's class so I didn't know her warm-up, but it was, by far, the hardest warm-up I have ever done. Within minutes I had a moat of sweat around my body.

Fortunately though, I was able to keep up with most of the class. I must say though, that for a Jazz 2 class, there are an awful lot of good dancers there. We had to do chaines across the floor, and some of the people spun line tops all while spotting and keeping their momentum going in a straight line. Meh. I'm kind interested to see how amazingly intense Jazz 3 and 4 are if the class I took tonight already had so many great dancers.

I've also, once of and for all, seen the myth of short dancers debunked. At least a quarter of the girls in the class were my height or taller (making me feel oh so short) and most of the girls were at least 5'5" or 5'6". It was quite obvious that I had the least experience out of all of them, but I made it, and had a pretty good time.

Another thing to mention is the two older ladies in the class. They were both my mom's age. One handled herself pretty well, but the other one was a disaster. She looked liked what I think my mother would look like if she chose to take a dance class. She was wearing pj bottoms and a camisol, and honestly looked like she was ready to go to bed. I didn't get a chance to watch her closely, but she really seemed out of place.

I think I will try this more in the future. Well, body, prepare to be sore tomorrow.
